Shooting Indians on horseback is legal
North Dakota allows you to shoot an Indian on horseback if you’re in a covered wagon.
IdiotLaws.com Editor Commentary: No need to get into race-related discussions or who was in North America first. But without research the history of this one, I'm pretty confident in saying that this was probably an old law from the 1800's that is no longer valid today.

This law hasn’t been on ND century code for many many years fools.
I’m from ND and I don’t think they use this law any more lol, killing any one here is illegal, no matter how it is done.
I live in North Dakota and i tought it was a fake just to get people in jail. but anywhy yes yes yes i going to kill and indian on a horse but i have to make a covered wagon.
fuck the indians, they take advantage of so many government handouts and “special privileges” its insane……….we should’ve finished what we started 400 years ago, then we wouldnt have their culture of entitlement now…..
They tried to kick us off the land. Tocqueville had a good point, over the course of 200 years, the Indian demonstrated a remarkable inability to adapt to European culture.
They were good at individual warrior skills. We were better at fighting. According to some census data, over 300,000 white settlers crossed over the plains following various mineral rushes on the West coast in a decade. They were all armed–except for a few notorious incidents, we left them alone and they left us alone. The problem was when they decided to attack or a particularly stupid settler pursued them off the “beaten” path and was killed. The law was there to define Indian and white territory through the only language mutually understood–war. So long as there was a buffer, everyone was ok. They never really could unite as an indian nation to defend their lands. We were united through our states and federal government and army. It was a lose – lose for the Indians.
Hey guys the indian ancestors as you call them (it would be rather native american) are on this land before your ancestor. If we follow the logic, it’s rather them who should kick your ass away of there land.
I think it is sad that this law wasn’t taken off the books a long time ago.. And I find some of your comments here even sadder. Is humanity so hard to come by these days? When did we lose site of the value of a human life? Regardless of race, creed, etc. we are all human.. I guess I just don’t find the humor in this law. In fact it breaks my heart.

If an indian can exersize his rights from 1837, and it is ok. Why is the law to shoot them if they are off the reservation, or in this case horse back Stupid?
Things were different then and this was needed. I am sick of indians looking for special rights for teaties from the 1800’s. May be us non indians should be exercising our treaty rights to shoot them for being off the reservation. Yes that is not PC or even what direction we should be going in,but according to the treaties we have the right. these special rights are not correct either. We should have equal rights, we are all americans here. lets start treating each other with respect and not see who can get away with the most. And stop trying to make it the way it was, or you may get the bad with the good.
