People should be informed about that area where toxic snakes are available. They must wear snake proof gear like hand gloves, boots etc. I think no need to kill wildlife, they should be protected. By the way, Thanks for the post.
I wish there was a way to have antivenin on hand when out in the back country of the west. I believe it has to be refrigerated to last. Lots of the times I find myself 5-10 miles from the nearest road. What does a guy do if he gets snake bit in an area like that? I guess snake bite prevention is the best method. For now I guess I will just have to stick with my snake proof gear like snake gaiters and snake gloves.

There needs to be more laws like this, so this is in no way a “stupid” or “dumb” law. Those that think it is, are the stupid ones. Rabbit and rat populations in Florida are going out of hand due to the killing of rattlesnakes, and several snake species are on the endangered species list, but no one will take the time to avenge the disappearing reptiles, or notice that the needless slaughtering of serpents is causing great distress to the environment. These creatures need as much protection as they can get from the cruelly prejudiced humans.
Sure, they cause 40,000 human deaths a year, but that’s less than any one of the following: Malarial Mosquito, war and famine, automobiles, smoking, cancer and/or heart disease. (O’Shea, Mark; Venomous Snakes of the World, pg 24)
Humans kill each other far more than snakes do, but you don’t go “Eek, a human, run it over/shoot it/cut it in half.”
Think on that next time you see a snake.
