It’s illegal to allow the breeding of the state bird
Why are they trying to kill the mosquito? it’s not like it’s ever going to go away…
Sec. 18-2. Weeds, trash, etc., as a public nuisance; removal by property owner or by city at owner’s expense; notice and hearing; lien for expenses.
(a) The existence of weeds, trash, undergrowth, brush, filth, garbage or other refuse on any lot, tract or parcel of land within the city which has caused the property to become, or which may reasonably cause the property to become infested, or inhabited by rodents, vermin or wild animals, or may furnish a breeding place for mosquitoes or threatens the public health, safety or welfare, or may reasonably cause disease or adversely affects and impairs the economic welfare of the adjacent property, is declared to constitute a public nuisance and is hereby prohibited.
How is prohibiting people from allowing vermin and parasites from breeding in standing water or garbage around their homes an idiot law? Maybe you’d like a case of West Nile Virus or Eastern Equine Encephalitis (a girl in the city where I live contracted EEE and suffered severe brain damage as a result; she’ll never be “normal” again) or any of the diseases that can be transmitted by rodent bites and rodent feces (such as:
* Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome
* Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome
* Lassa Fever
* Leptospirosis
* Lymphocytic Chorio-meningitis (LCM)
* Omsk Hemorrhagic Fever
* Plague
* Rat-Bite Fever
* Salmonellosis
* South American Arenaviruses
* Tularemia),
but I think it’s safe to say most people wouldn’t.
