The reason elephants have such a good memory is because they don’t smoke the wacky tabacco. Just say no (to smoking with elephants).

I went on a tour of Natchez, MS, the basis for this law is that a guy owned a pet elephant and his buddies wanted to see how much beer it would take to get the elephant drunk. After several barrels of beer the elephant went on a rampage around town hence, the law. All this from our tour guide.

Well they probably got confused by the abbreviation, you know since we don’t teach those in school anymore. thought Mississippi (MS) was the abbreviation for Missouri (MO).
I don’t know if it’s illegal to give intoxicants to elephants in Natchez, Missouri. I do know that it’s impossible. There is no community or place in Missouri named Natchez.
If you would google Natchez, MO you will find there is one.
If you actually look at those google entries, you will see that they all refer to Natchez, MS or to that story about the goofy law. There is no Natchez, MO.
